Print control module
The print control module controls the path of the print job towards direct printing or print@me. If the workflow is intended exclusively for print@me or direct printing, it is not required (only if both paths are to be possible in a workflow). If it is not present in the workflow, the switch option for direct printing or print@me in the WebClient has no function.
The module checks whether a direct printer has already been set. A direct printer can be set by:
- Queue assignment (separator page)
- User assignment
- Workstation computer assignment (by Printer assignment module or Printer assignment database module- these modules must then appear in the workflow before the print control)
- Selection by the user (using The Print-Job Interview Module– here a printer assigned to the user or a printer assigned to the workstation can be selected – this module must then appear in the workflow before the print control)
If Yes, the direct printing output is selected, if No, the output print@me (printers permanently entered in the Send print job module are not affected by this check).

The module may occur only once in the workflow.
In the workflow, the module requires The Print Job List Module, since the functions are only applied on the device to print jobs that are present in the print@me print job list.

The placement of the module is not restricted. However, different effects result depending on at which points the module is used.

The module can be connected to all modules (this can result in nonsensical workflows).

Direct printing: The module that is to be carried out after the test has been passed follows here.
print@me: At this point, the print job is placed in the user's job list. It makes sense for The Print Job List Module to follow after this output.

You can use this setting to determine whether the setting of the standard print method for the user is to be taken into account in the workflow (active by default). The standard printing method can be specified by the administrator in the user's data record (print@me or direct printing). Users also have the option of defining this setting in the WebClient themselves, see Standard method.
For example, if you want to control whether a print is a direct print or a print@me print by the selection of a printer queue (and not by the user setting), deactivate this setting and associate a separate workflow (one for direct printing and one for print@me) with each queue.

The print service accepts and analyses print jobs. It also checks the user rights when printing. It also sends the print data to the device. Its log file is Logs\PrintService.log.
